GreenFood50’s quinoa ingredients won the ‘Runner Up Open Innovation Award 2015’ during the Food Matters Live trade show in London, in November 2015. The innovation prize is awarded annually by the University of Cambridge Open Innovation Forum.
Marc Arts, founder and managing director of GreenFood50, pitched his quinoa ingredients to a panel of expert judges at the Food Matters Live event as representatives from Mars, Heineken, Unilever, Tesco, United Biscuits, Cargill and other major players in the food industry looked on.
GreenFood50 develops, manufactures and sells ingredients based on saponin-free quinoa. The company works closely with Wageningen UR and other leading international organizations. GreenFood50’s quinoa ingredients are rich in protein, dietary fiber and Omega 6/9 fatty acid, and are gluten-free. These ingredients increase the nutritional value of the products they are incorporated in and fit in with the current ‘free from’ trend.
“This prestigious award is international recognition for GreenFood50 quinoa ingredients,” said Marc Arts. “The interest in our products during Food Matters Live was overwhelming.” Chef Erik te Velthuis used GreenFood50 quinoa ingredients for his quinoa cakes and crackers sampled during the Taste & Try sessions in the Holland Food Valley pavilion at the London trade show.
